Gloucestershire Solar Compare is an independent solar comparison and installer-matching service for homeowners in Gloucestershire. We are the data controller for the information you submit through this website. We are not a solar installer and we do not carry out installation work. What data we collect

We use your enquiry details for one main purpose: to match you with vetted, accredited solar installers who cover your area, so they can prepare and send you quotes. We may also use your contact details to follow up on your enquiry, respond to questions, and let you know if we cannot find a suitable installer.

We use technical and analytics data to maintain the website, measure traffic, and improve our guides and service. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for unrelated advertising.

Sharing your data with installers

When you submit an enquiry, you are asking us to connect you with installers. We share the relevant details of your enquiry with a limited number of matched installers who cover your postcode so they can contact you with a quote. Those installers are separate businesses and act as independent data controllers for the information once we pass it to them.

We only share what is needed for the installer to quote, and only with firms relevant to your request. We are not party to any contract you go on to sign with an installer, and their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.

Lawful basis for processing

Our lawful basis under UK GDPR for sharing your enquiry with matched installers is the performance of the service you have requested, together with our legitimate interest in operating a comparison and matching service. Where required, we rely on your consent, for example for certain cookies and any optional marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.

How long we keep your data

We keep enquiry data only for as long as we need it to provide and improve our service and to meet any legal obligations. In practice this usually means a limited period after your enquiry is fulfilled, after which we delete or anonymise it. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct it if it is wrong, and to ask us to delete it. You can also object to or restrict certain processing, ask for your data in a portable format, and withdraw any consent you have given.
